Solid Waste (Trash) and Recycling

Solid Waste Convenience Centers

Santa Fe County Solid Waste manages seven, convenient trash and recycling drop-off locations. Residents and businesses that generate less than 850 pounds of trash per month may use the solid waste convenience centers by purchasing permits or bag tags by completing this 2020 permit application and dropping it off at the County's Treasurer’s Office, Public Works Complex, Edgewood Satellite Office, Eldorado Satellite Office, or Pojoaque Satellite Office.  Follow this link for more information on the locations, hours of operation, services, and rules of the County's trash and recycling convenience centers.  Other useful information is available in the "More Links" box.

Mandatory Recycling

Recycling is mandatory at Santa Fe County solid waste convenience centers. Want to learn more about recycling right? Recycling saves convenience center users $50 per ton, helps the environment, and keeps taxes down. Any convenience center user placing accepted recyclable material in trash bins may be issued a warning and/or issued a citation. The criminal penalty for violating the mandatory recycling ordinance is a fine of at least $25 for the first offense, $50-$100 for the second offense, and $75-$200 for the third offense.
