Inmate Mail Policy and Procedure

Money Orders

  • Cash and personal checks not accepted
  • Money orders or cashiers checks ONLY
  • Money orders should contain inmate id# (found in inmate lookup)

Mail

  • ALL mail is inspected and searched for Contraband
  • No Polaroid pictures
  • No pictures larger than 5 x 7
  • No nudity or gang affiliation allowed in pictures
  • No picture collages, pictures must be cut out of photo sheets
  • No jewelry, trinkets or loose items
  • No news clippings
  • No calling cards
  • Do not send stationary, stamps or envelopes
  • No stickers, they will be torn off and discarded (including address labels)

Denied Mail

  • Information and materials which would create a significant threat to the security or order of the facility or to the physical safety of an individual
  • Threats of blackmail or extortion
  • Plans for sending contraband in or out of the facility
  • Plans to escape
  • Plans for activities in violation of facility regulation order or policies
  • Criminal activity or plans for criminal activity
  • Coded messages that are not reasonably decipherable by the reader
  • Graphic presentations of sexual behavior that are in violation of law or materials which advocate or may lead to prohibited sexual activity, to include personal photos showing nudity
  • Mail received or sent from one correctional facility to another not approved by the Warden
  • Any mail received that promotes gang or gang activities will be turned in to the STIU for determination of appropriateness or rejection of the mail
  • Mail received or sent from one inmate to another while housed in this facility and not approved by the Warden
