Re-opening Senior Centers in Santa Fe County

Senior Centers will re-open on Monday, October 3, 2022 on a staggered schedule.  The schedule will be as follows:

Ken & Patty Adams Center Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Edgewood Senior Center Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
El Rancho Senior Center Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Rufina Lunch Site Tuesday and Friday 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Bennie J. Chavez Senior Center Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Abedon Lopez Senior Center Tuesday and Thursday   9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Activity Coordinators will begin preparing the Senior Centers for re-opening to include organizing; putting up hygiene and vaccination information; stocking with supplies including sanitizer, thermometers, etc.  They will also be getting trained on the screening process.

Per the State Aging and Long Term Services Department, all seniors and guests who come into the centers will be required to be screened and sign in.  Face masks will be required to be worn by Seniors and County Staff in senior centers and adult day care facilities.

Once the Senior and Community Relations Division is fully staffed with Activity Coordinators, senior centers will be open at their regular Pre-COVID hours which are:

Ken & Patty Adams Center Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Edgewood Senior Center Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
El Rancho Senior Center Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Rufina Lunch Site Monday thru Friday 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Bennie J. Chavez Senior Center Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Abedon Lopez Senior Center Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

We will start having the Activity Coordinators call seniors on Monday, September 19th to let them know about the re-opening and about the requirements such as screening, mask wearing, etc.  Non-metro AAA requires that if a senior is not comfortable returning to a senior center, we do need to continue to offer them a home delivered meal.

At this time, the Senior and Community Relations Division is in the process of hiring an Activity Coordinator at the Ken & Patty Adams (Eldorado) Senior Center.  There is still a vacancy at the Edgewood Senior Center.  The position is posted ongoing and we continue to interview for the position.  Once all Activity Coordinator positions are filled, normal Monday – Friday hours can resume.  The reason for this is that the Coordinators are responsible for the screening of Seniors as they come in.
