Community CentersQUICK INFO
Mission StatementCommunity Centers that are owned or leased to the County of Santa Fe are for the use of County residents, and are to be used primarily for public purposes which benefit the community. Priority for using the Centers is given to public events and activities open and geared toward the community at large. Centers can not be used for any business or profit making endeavors. Santa Fe County owns or leases the following Community Centers within Santa Fe County: the Bennie J. Chavez Center in Chimayo; the Rio enMedio Community Center, the Nancy Rodriquez Center in the Traditional Village of Agua Fria, the La Cienega Community Center, and the El Rancho Community Center. On May 27th of last year, the BCC adopted Resolution No. 2008-9 which established the new policies and procedures for Community Centers. Under these policies, the BCC appoints a Community Center Committee of not less than 3 or more than 5 members for each Center. Under this provision a total of 15 Board members are required for these 5 Centers. The primary policy changes are: a new combined cleaning and damage deposit of $150; an increase in the facility rental fee from $50 to $100; and an activity insurance requirement for private groups with over 25 attendees.
